September kicks off exciting new slate of activities at ESAG

The Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild’s 2016-2017 Season program of activities will kick off with a talk on “An Artist’s Internet Presence” by Cam Anderson of MyArtClub.com at St Jude’s Roman Catholic Church on September 10, 2016.

Sacred Art on display at the 2014 ESAG Exhibition
This will be followed by our biennial exhibition “The Way of Beauty”, from October 14-23 2016 at St Jude’s Parish. The exhibit of sacred art will feature new work by some 10 ESAG member artists. All members and friends are invited to the opening and reception on October 14, at 7pm. Sept. 10 ‘How well does your internet presence as an artist stack up?’
Cam Anderson of MyArtClub.com presents the key elements of “An Artist’s Internet Presence’, offering a measuring scale to help you assess any artists digital marketing activities, especially your own. He will have examples and an overview of where most artists are, and what they can do to improve. Cam will show how MyArtClub.Com websites support artist’s online marketing.
Oct. 8 No Meeting due to the Sacred Art Exhibition-The Way of Beauty-Oct 14-23, 2016 at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church (15th and Renfrew). Opening Blessing by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Donnelly and Opening Reception 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016.
Nov. 12 Talk on Art and Liturgy--Statuary in the Sacred Space
Mary Catherine Breslin will explore the relationship between statuary and the liturgy in the sacred space.
Dec. 10 Advent Day Retreat Spirit, Faith, Christ, God Through the Medium of Film
Reverend Fr. Larry Lynn will lead us in a day of reflection and give thoughts and insights into his area of creativity in filmmaking. Special festive potluck lunch.
2017
Jan. 14 The Art of Wood Carving
Master Restorer, Cabinetmaker and Artistic Carver Frantisek Krutsky, holder of a license from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic will speak about his art with the assistance of his wife, Vanda Krutsky (professional translator). Frantisek has had extensive experience with cultural monuments, altars, sacred wooden furniture, woodcarvings and antique furniture in churches and cathedrals in the historic centre of Prague and in other private collections. Special festive potluck lunch for the Feast of the Epiphany.
Feb. 11 Eastern Rite Icons
Rev. Father Richard S. Soo, S.J. will give a talk on Eastern Rite Icons.
March 11 TBA
April 8 Copyright Law
Lawyer Ana Maria Pacheco with assistance from Patricia Ballard will consult with a copyright lawyer to present their research and findings about current copyright laws for artists.
May 13 Shop Talk
Artists from the Epiphany Sacred Arts Guild will talk about technical problems with the making of their own art and how to overcome them. There will be some demonstrations of techniques and an art swap of items we wish to share, sell or just give away.
June 10 Annual Day Retreat for Artists at Westminster Abbey, Mission
Rev. Fr. Lawrence Donnelly, Guild Chaplain, will be our retreat master withFr. Abbot Braganza giving a talk—special potluck lunch
